FOOT MEASUREMENT STANDARDIZATION OF ADOLESCENT BOYS IN 7-14 AGE GROUP

The study was carried out in province of Izmir in order to determine foot measurements of boys within 7-14 age groups according to TS 5553. Twenty four different measurements were taken from right and left feet of 1064 boys studying at various elementary schools of 16 districts. After the determination of foot measurements, statistical evaluation was made. Differences in left and right foot measurements were determined.
The results were different from values of Paris system which was accepted by Turkish Standards Institution (TSI) in 1988. It was observed that feet of Turkish people were shorter and wider comparing to standards of Paris system. In addition, differences between lengths of right and left feet and between widths of right and left heels were observed. Gathering the data, measurement standardization tables for left and right feet of boys within 7-14 age groups were prepared.
