Fabric properties are mainly affected by the properties of the fibers which are building structures of the yarns and also by the yarns. On the other side, fabric density and weave are the important parameters which have a significant effect on the properties of yarn conversion to properties of fabric. These two parameters change mechanical, permeability and conductivity properties of fabrics completely. Changing fabrics’ density in the fabric structure will affect the contraction of the fabric and also will affect the weavability of the fabric due to the fabric weave.
In this study, with using polyester yarns and different warp and weft densities, plain and twill constructed fabrics are formed. Afterwards, tensile strength in the warp and weft direction of the fabrics have been measured after the washing processes. Anova statistical analysis has been done in order to see the effects of the fabric density on the tensile strength of the fabrics.
Key Words: Polyester fabrics, tensile strength in the warp-weft direction, fabric weave, fabric density
